2015 Workshop Instructions

Participants who would like to try the software packages presented during the workshops will need to download and install packages  BEFORE coming to the course.

Workshops will run considering that participants are from different background and may not be familiar with cells recording or robotic or imaging. Workshop conveyors will present material in such a way that if participants do not have a laptop or have not installed the software they will still be able to learn from participating in the workshop.

Please come with software installed and your laptop fully charged.

Links to installation pages are listed here below:

Day 1 – Michael Hines (YALE, USA) – Modeling in Python-NEURON

All participants who would like to take advantage of this workshop should come to the workshop with NEURON installed on their own laptop. Installation instructions can be found in these pdf presentations:

NEURON for Mac

NEURON for Windows

If anyone has difficulties installing NEURON successfully, they should contact Michael Hines by email at michael.hines@yale.edu.

Day 2 – Alessandra Pedrocchi & Alberto Antonietti (Milano, Italy) – Closed-loop robotic control using spiking neural networks

All participants who would like to take advantage of this workshop should come to the workshop with MATLAB (version 2013 or later) and the ROBOTICS TOOLBOX  installed on their own laptop. Installation links can be found here below:

MATLAB 2013 or after (including Simulink)
(notice that you can install a free trial version if you institution does not support the full license for you)
